Astronomy today

Astronomy today is a powerful science and a leisure activity loved by a lot of community. With ancient as well as new discoveries, space missions, up to date events, videos and photos, astronomy is a leisure activity to can fill countless hours. It can as well be a lot of enjoyable. So here are a few of the most recent and greatest astronomy truth, figures and happenings.

Meteors may be a key element of astronomy today on any given day.  The last half of 2008 was no different as meteors were certainly on the menu.  In November the Taurids and Leonids were active in the night sky.  Into was a full moon in December washing out the Gemenids.  But people need not worry.  Meteor shower peaks may happen during full moons, but meteors are on show for up to two weeks both before and after the peaks.  So there’s a lot of clear time to view these falling chunks of space debris.

Astronomy today in 2008 was often a matter of discussing a return to the moon by 2015.  This mission would be undertaken cooperatively by the entire world.  The goal may be to establish a moon base or even a colony on the moon.  Reckon of it.  Minus the aliens and hopefully the moon set adrift by an explosion, the TV series “Space 1999” could soon become a reality only 16 years too late.

Space garbage,  a used up tank, was often discussed when people talked about astronomy today.  It had been discarded into space where it orbited for many months.  But eventually its orbit decayed.  There was some worry that large chunks would fall, or that some parts would strike in populated areas.  The excellent news is that it all fell into the ocean.

Hubble was probably the largest news in astronomy today in 2008.  Bear was the saga of hurt which took a month to repair.   Hubble then took the first visible light images of a planet orbiting another star.  What a busy year for one piece of technology.

Astrology today is an ever expanding subject.  Keep up with everything on the Internet.
